The Influence of the Presence of Deviant Item Score Patterns on the Power of a Person-Fit Statistic
نویسنده
چکیده
In studies investigating the power of person-fit statistics it is often assumed that the item parameters that are used to calculate the statistics can be estimated in a sample without aberrant persons. However, in practical test applications calibration samples most likely will contain aberrant persons. In the present study, the influence of the type and the number of aberrant persons in the calibration sample on the detection rate of the ZU3 statistic was investigated by means of simulated data. The ZU3 is a standardized version of the person-fit U3 statistic developed by H. Van der Flier (1980). An increase in the number of aberrant simulees resulted in a decrease in the power of ZU3. Furthermore, the type of aberrant behavior influenced the power of ZU3. The use of an iterative procedure to remove the aberrant persons from the dataset was investigated. Results suggested that this method can be used to improve the power of ZU3. (Contains 4 tables, 6 figures, and 17 riferences.) (Author/SLD)

Diagnosing item score patterns on a test using item response theory-based person-fit statistics.
Person-fit statistics have been proposed to investigate the fit of an item score pattern to an item response theory (IRT) model. The author investigated how these statistics can be used to detect different types of misfit. Intelligence test data were analyzed using person-fit statistics in the context of the G. Rasch (1960) model and R. J. Mokken's (1971, 1997) IRT models. The effect of the cho...
متن کاملAdjusted Rasch person-fit statistics.
Two frequently used parametric statistics of person-fit with the dichotomous Rasch model (RM) are adjusted and compared to each other and to their original counterparts in terms of power to detect aberrant response patterns in short tests (10, 20, and 30 items). Specifically, the cube root transformation of the mean square for the unweighted person-fit statistic, t, and the standardized likelih...

Person-fit statistics test whether the likelihood of a respondent's complete vector of item scores on a test is low given the hypothesized item response theory model. This binary information may be insufficient for diagnosing the cause of a misfitting item-score vector. The authors propose a comprehensive methodology for person-fit analysis in the context of nonparametric item response theory. ...
متن کاملSimulating the Null Distribution of Person - Fit Statistics for Conventional and Adaptive Tests
Several person-fit statistics have been proposed to detect item score patterns that do not fit an item response theory model. To classify response patterns as not fitting a model, a distribution of a person-fit statistic is needed. The null distributions of several fit statistics have been investigated using conventionally administered tests, but less is known about the distribution of fit stat...
متن کاملThe Buzzword: Employee Engagement. Does Person-Organization Fit Contribute to Employee Engagement?
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between person-organization value fit and employee engagement, as well as to develop a new scale for measuring organizational engagement. We considered person-organization fit with a degree of similarity between personal values and organizational values. These values were measured by the Organizational Culture Profile (OCP). We divided employee e...
